Spring 2009
PBI293 - Student Participatory Seminar in Postharvest Biology
"Development and Metabolism of Chloroplasts and Mitochondria"
CRN# 84377; 1 unit (S/U grading only)
Thursdays 12:10-1pm at Storer 1342
Course website: TBA
The first meeting (orientation) is at 12:10pm on April 9th, 2009
Instructor: Kentaro Inoue (Department of Plant Sciences, kinoue@ucdavis.edu)
In the past PBI293, we have covered various topics related to postharvest biology,
including both basic and practical problems such as metabolism, quality, and
postharvest handling of fruits, vegetables, and ornamentals. There has also been
an excellent review of genetic and genomic studies to understand and improve
postharvest quality of horticultural crops.
In the Spring quarter, we will be learning recent findings on development
and metabolism of two important organelles that regulate various aspects of plant
growth and development, chloroplasts and mitochondria.
